Early mornings haven’t been the same since I quit the coffee. I used to head strait to the maker of that black liquid first thing in the morning to see if there was a fresh pot . Now my body’s response is……….Why am I awake?….For that matter why am I alive? Ah the symptoms of withdraw .Headache!!!,Lethargy!!!,Irritability!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Why give up a wonderfully versatile, delicious drink that gives you energy and is legal , you may ask ? Well, because it has a hold on me. The same way cigarettes and other addicting substances have had and, I refuse to be addicted to anything. Except for maybe comic books ……or the creative process….or love.

I gave up coffee years ago when I found out about caffeine’s restrictive effects of the small capillaries. Specifically the ones surrounding the sex organs. And let’s face it I don’t want to be cutting off the blood flow there. But in the search for monetary enlightenment I started driving commercial vehicles……..over the road……..overnight……to make a long story short….Hello truck stop at 3am ….Hello disgustingly burnt energy in a cup.

Now life on the road was burning me at both ends and my addicting personality was getting familiar with the savory sweet varieties of the truck stop coffee. Now lets face it. when your sleepy…I mean really sleepy, coffee doesn’t keep you awake . It just provides you with a burst of energy that helps you vent you frustration in unproductive ways.

What had happened to me was the same thing that happens to any junkie when they go to get their fix. I made an excuse for this java binge and held tight to those beliefs. So that I could fulfill that addiction that has haunted me since the day I first put the soothingly warm aromatic sip through my lips and feel it warm my inner being the only way a warm liquid can.

Fast forward to today. Withdraw….. Tea, it’s not void of caffeine, so why is my body changing in the same ways it did the first time I quit? This is the question I ask myself but I am to lethargic in my thinking to go explore the differences .

But, I think I know why. I don’t drink 2 pots of tea a day. One or two cups in the morning occasionally one later in the day. Thats why . Coffee’s addictive power over me keeps bringing me back for more like a crack head with a credit card. If it is there i’m getting it.

Let’s face it I probably wont ever stop drinking coffee for good. It is ingrained in our culture to much. It’s everywhere. We have coffee flavored candy for java’s sake. It’s an addiction that we are proud of. “GOTTA HAVE MY COFFEE”.

“GOOD TO THE LAST DROP” ”THE BEST PART OF WAKING UP IS FOLGERS IN YOUR CUP”. I guess that must be what an alcoholic feels like in the world .. Bud Light on every billboard a Papst blue ribbon in every window. The things that we do to our selves .

In the meantime I’m going to see this withdraw through. Maybe try to get a little healthier even if it is only a mental state.

So till next time Have a cup for me.

Jeremy

It wasn’t to cold, not to hot. The germination of the seed of imagination fell it to time with motivation (no rhyme intended). The urge and the need to make money melted away and I could focus on that magic spark of mystery that makes creating art so wonderful. The pushing of the boundaries which we are taught as a child is a bad thing in this case sets us free (Adults only……children …..mind your boundaries). If you’re a creative person you probably understand what I’m talking about. It’s not something that is easily conveyed (for me at least) And I’m not convinced that non-creative people have a grasp on this concept.Anyway…..I shouldn’t assume anything about what goes on in other peoples heads……..I barley have the concept that goes on in mine…………..It was one of those days that help me put together the concept of this Tribute to Andy Warhol.

Now It’s not my nature to rip off famous artists but, my creative use of recyclable materials just lend-ed itself to this idea and I couldn’t get away from it. Obviously I should have used a less famous consumer product but pop culture has cemented that image in my head laconically . I remember when I was a kid going into my mothers kitchen on a cold snowy day peeling off 7 layers of snowsuits ,rubber insulated boots and ,soggy mittens. Mom would have a nice steaming hot bowl of Cambell’s tomato soup waiting for me ( with grilled cheese). MMMMMM that’s living. The aromatics of the soup would defrost you as quick as an ice cube in a microwave. Pouring the delicious goop down your throat one spoonful at a time would invigorate your frozen soul and bring it back to capacity………. The same way Art and creativity does.

Andy Knew Cambell’s soup. I know Cambell’s soup. He probably ate it…….Hey I eat it. We have something in common. According to Wikipedia (the reliable sorce) Andy was quoted as saying “What’s great about this country is that America started the tradition where the richest consumers buy essentially the same things as the poorest. You can be watching TV and see Coca-Cola, and you know that the President drinks Coca-Cola, Liz Taylor drinks Coca-Cola, and just think, you can drink Coca-Cola, too. A Coke is a Coke and no amount of money can get you a better coke than the one the bum on the corner is drinking. All the cokes are the same and all the cokes are good. Liz Taylor knows it, the President knows it, the bum knows it, and you know it.[“ Is that what POP ART is? Art for everyone. Certainly we can’t all afford to own one of Andy’s original works that sold for one hundered million dollars. But we can all eat Cambell’s tomato soup or drink a Coke.

I think the Idea that Fine art ,Pop art, Whatever art being worth millions of dollars is rediculous .(That being said if anyone wants to buy my creative work for that much I will gladly take it) I understand the rarity and the speculation……..haveing something that no one else has. But we can’t really have anything else that everyone else has. Not forever but, only in fleating moments. We can share the same soup and the same cold drink and breath the same air. If armagedden ever comes down though, Looters may take your can goods before your priceless Warhol.

That is why I am thankful for Tusday. Not only did I create the same “artwork” as the late great Andy Warhol. I created it in a different medium…..but even better than that ,My mom came and visited me that day and that was even better than a priceless painting.

She admired my latest creative “Masterpiece” and told me that she liked it. I should have asked if it was because she liked Andy’s work too or she just remembers those cold days eating soup together.

Till next Time be creative and have fun.

Jeremy

Charles Schaefer was quoted as saying “ We are never more fully alive, more completely ourselves, or more deeply engrossed in anything, than when we are at play”

That’s What I want….To be fully alive….completely myself..engrossed in the people that help me be myself. Doing the things that bring joy instead of pain and strife .

Pablo Picasso Said “ One must act in painting as in life, directly. “

So that is the challenge of today and everyday. act directly to be fully alive and completely yourself. Have you forgotten as I have so often done. Find those things that make the smile muscles work …that provoke laughter that expels out of your being like a waterfall. Experience Life instead of feeling almost dead and then we may have a chance … to live.

A Buddhist monk walks into a pizza parlor and says “Can you make me one with everything?”

It’s O.K. if you don’t get that joke . Pondering it is as funny as Oneness LOL

Till next time Que your own laugh track.

It’s not easy and I’m not making as much as I was with the company that I worked for but, what I have gained in the time I spend with my family and just general opportunities in life outweigh the loss of income 10 fold.

Take into consideration the bulk of my income comes from buying and resale of merchandise. which isn’t bad but, that goes back to the original problem I had when I was working the conventional way….not enough creative time… I’m sure I’ll work out all of the kinks in my process in a few years. Right now I’m just trying my best to pay the bills and enjoy every last joyful moment of this life in this beautiful existence with my loved ones that I possibly can.

The re purpose of this website has been a long awaited dream. Now I can lump all of the things that I do in one place and maybe give everyone a good idea of everything that I do. I’m trying to post my project along with the comics so there will be more daily content. Hopefully this will be easy to navigate too. So if you don’t want all the craft stuff thrown in there just let me know. You the reader benefit from flow of the content better than I do,don’t be afraid to tell me what you think . Add a comment in the section provided or let me know on face book. http://www.facebook.com/jpm74

Well that’s enough hub-bub for now till next post …

Keep the bills paid

There are usually 20 different projects going at one time and none of them are organized . I will literally start something get distracted about something I started before and had put down. so then I have put that project down in the process. This is all usually out of a natural sense that everything needs to be in it’s placed or organized ……But nothing ever is !!!!! I’m not doing anything more than making messes as I go around with the intention of getting organized. It is a wonder that I haven’t been committed yet. Some how I manage to get some things done though….Maybe there is a method to my madness ….

I got to go… I’m sure something needs put away….Hopefully not me

This is one of those projects that is just pure creativity. I made it for fun without thinking about selling it.Of course it sat around for a few years and creativity hit it again. I would sell it if anyone offered to buy it but, right now it just brings me joy.
